It is a feeling of pride to put forth certain issues which reflect the developing side of India. Prof. Dr. Shantanu Bhowmick, Department of Aerospace, Amrita University, Coimbatore came as a blessing to the soldiers by inventing a light-weight bullet-proof jacket. Prior to this invention, India was spending around 1.5 lacs INR for a single bullet-proof jacket which was being imported from America. Now, these new jackets will cost only 50,000 INR per jacket which is more than half the amount of the prior price. Apart from this, one more benefit is that these jackets made by Dr. Bhowmick are lighter than even 1.5 kg whereas the imported ones were weighing up to 15-18 kg. The Ministry of Defence has approved Bhowmick’s invention to be brought to use for the Indian Army. The part that is more overwhelming is that Dr. Bhowmick dedicated his invention to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose which brings out the traditional side of the inventor. This invention has also turned out to be an inspiration for many inventors who were looking for one simple ray of hope.
